I mentioned in my last post  that my first step to freedom was having hope.  Let’s dig deeper at what hope is.  According the Webster dictionary, hope is defined as a feeling of expectation and desire for a certain thing to happen.  Yes, that was me as a child, hoping that I would fit in and feeling anxious about it.  Funny thing is, I never quite got over the feeling  of constantly ‘hoping’ to have certain things happen to me.  Why is that?  This is human nature, we all have a desire to have certain things happen to us.  The bigger question is why were we created to constantly need ‘hope’?  Although I don’t know the answer to that, I have spent my whole adult life searching for ways to understand hope.  The first book that I read that really started me on the journey to understand hope was “The Power of Positive Thinking by Norman Vincent Peale.  I learned that hope comes from within.  We were created to constantly need hope, but we are also created with the ability to understand it through thinking.  If we learn to control our thinking, then we can control our future.

Step two:  Learn how to control your thinking.
